Our Impact

PEAK works hard throughout the school year to raise funds to support enrichment programs, teacher requests, and some simply fun community-building activities. Things like the Great Artist Program (GAP), 9th Grade Lagoon Day, Hope Squad, individual air purifiers for each classroom, Science Fair gift cards, State choir transportation, and ELA’s staff holiday party are all funded in full, or in part, by money raised through PEAK. Keep scrolling to learn more about some of these programs.

Here’s a glimpse at some of the programs funded by PEAK during the 2018-2019 school year and how much money was spent to support each one. Want more details? Scroll down for more in-depth descriptions of some of the things supported by PEAK throughout the year.

Programs Funded by PEAK

In order to support these programs, PEAK works hard all year long give ELA families lots of opportunities to help raise money—from Chick-Fil-A and Zupa’s nights (where a percentage of the profits made during the evening are given back to the school), to our No-Fuss Fundraiser, to passive donations received through Amazon Smile and Smith’s Inspiring Donations, it’s easy for families to support the ELA community!

Whether your thing is raising money or spending it, PEAK can always use your voice. Join us at our next meeting to give your input! Can’t make the meetings but still want to be involved? Check out all of our volunteer opportunities on HelpCounter—we always need help during teacher conferences, Book Fair, History Fair, Field Day and lots of other times throughout the year!

And don’t forget - you can always donate directly to PEAK! We rely on donations to help us support the ELA community through the amazing programs that we contribute to. When you donate to PEAK you are helping us expand our reach in the classroom, on the playground, and beyond the school day.

What does PEAK support?

Here are some of the ways PEAK supports the ELA community. Join us at our meetings to get an in-depth, real-time look at what we are doing to fund these programs.

Teacher & Staff requests

PEAK prioritizes supporting teacher and aide requests for their classrooms because, as selfless and generous as our ELA teachers are, we know it takes a community effort for education to be successful. We allocate funds from our budget every year to ensure that each teacher and aide in the school is given the opportunity to be supported by PEAK. This includes our Special Ed teachers and aides. Donating to PEAK helps ensure that we can continue to support the teachers and staff as much as possible.

Great Artist Program-GAP

The Great Artist Program (GAP) is an elementary education curriculum that teaches students about art history as they create. This hands-on program brings a volunteer into the classroom once per month for 6 months to lead a guided lesson where the students are taught about an artist, their painting, and then instructed step-by-step on how they can recreate the work. A student favorite, the GAP program is an enriching experience that allows students to get their hands (and smocks) a little messy. For more information, visit the Great Artist Program’s website.

9th Grade lagoon day

This amusing outing is simply a day of fun community building for ELA’s amazing 9th grade students. After a hard year of school, they’ve earned a break! The students are bussed to Lagoon, chaperoned, and delivered back to the school, exhausted and thrilled. Sometimes school stuff can get clunky, so PEAK is delighted to be able to fund this excursion each year. For more information about the amusement park, visit Lagoon’s website.

teacher appreciation week

Everyone knows it—we love our ELA teachers and aides! Teacher Appreciation Week is just one week throughout the year where we are able to pamper our educators just a little bit extra. PEAK organizes goodies like soda bars, massages, and supply drives for our wonderful group of teachers and aides, and we do it all with the passionate support of ELA’s parents and students.

Hope squad

Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program that ELA has implemented along with many other schools around the country. The students who participate on the Squad are selected by their peers for being trustworthy and caring. These students are taught how to recognize suicide warning signs and how to properly and respectfully report concerns to an equipped adult. The program also teaches these students how to reduce stigmas surrounding suicide and mental health. They know that it’s okay to talk about problems and they’ve taken on an honorable task in helping to look out for their classmates. For more information, visit Hope Squad’s website.
